VACATION, YEAH BABY!!!!!!

We did it!!! We took a complete kid free vacation, with the exception of the two pregnant ladies it was completely kid free. It was with some of the greatest friends we have ever known. We had a great time. We took off in 3 SUV's hauling 6 couples to Destin, Florida on Tuesday afternoon. We stopped to potty and then to eat dinner. Then a short drive to our hotel in Magee, MS for a night of rest, (yeah right, who rested knowing the beach was just a short 4 hours away? I didn't). We were up early the next day and headed out to Destin. We arrived at our cottage. Here's the view entering into the village where we stayed. We weren't on the beach, but we were a 3 short blocks away or a short trolley ride away.

Then it was obviously time to hit the beach!!! We had a blast spending most of our days in the water or laying on the beach relaxing. Our house was close enough that we could head to the beach when we got up in the morning. Ride the trolley there with all of our beach stuff, stay at the beach until lunch time, leave our stuff at the beach and head to the house for lunch or a quick nap. Then back to the beach or the pool. The guys decided on the last day to build this sea turtle in the sand. They didn't have any buckets or anything to build a sand castle with so they built a turtle. Which proved to be very popular as it was still there when went back to the beach that night for our friend Sarah to do some couple pictures on the beach. There were also others who built sea creatures in the sand, I saw a starfish, a snake, and several other giant sea creatures on the sand.

Then came the nightlife. We had fun eating out with our friends and doing just whever the heck we wanted to do. We went shopping, ate, rode golf carts, did the rip cord. One night Derek and I went out alone and had a good time walking around Baytowne Wharf. The dinner pictures below are from the night the guys went fishing. We ate at this restaurant that cooked your fish however you wanted and supplied the sides. It was very very very good stuff!!!!

On day for lunch we went to eat with Amber and Dane and Chris and Misty and watch the Arkansas Baseball game. This was a little pub that we went to that had dollar bills hanging everywhere. There were over $750,000 $1 bills hanging all over the place. It was crazy!!!!

The guys went on a 6 hour deep sea fishing excursion. They caught a ton of fish and we had it for dinner that night. It was so good. Look at all of those fish? It was crazy. They caught 2 30+ lb cobias. Apparently those are fish that people go out there just to catch and don't and they caught 2 on this trip. Both the captain and first mate were excited about it!!!! They caught Red Snapper, Cobia, King Mackeral, and Grouper.

While the guys were fishing, the girls went and walked around on the pier. There were a lot of people fishing on the pier but it was fun. The view was beautiful and it was amazing to be that far out from the shore. It was also weird looking out and not seeing anything but water

The last night our friend Sarah went down the beach with the couples that wanted to and took some pictures of us on the beach. I'm so excited to get the pictures back from her. Here are some pictures that were taken with my camera while Sarah was taking her pictures.

Here's the guys on the beach!!! I didn't get a picture of the girls since we were all in the picture.

And here's Derek with the finished product of his sand turtle. It looks pretty good if you ask me.

And for all of you who are worried about Jaxon, he had a great time while mommy and daddy were gone. He spent a few days at each grandparents house. He was kept very busy and reports are that he was tuckered out almost every night and slept really good. He went to the park several times, went to a children's musuem, went to the zoo, a baseball game, car races, road the mule at my dad's, and saw the cows. Overall, I would say he didn't miss us much. But we're now back into our routine and he's transitioning very well.
